Attendees will leave this session able to:

    1. Identify the reasons it is critical that we must communicate clearly with staff.
    2. Review the pros and cons of several internal communications methods to establish during the “Good Times.”  These methods are broken down into two groups:
      • How leadership can communicate with the staff and
      • How the staff can communicate their ideas to the leadership.
    1. Ways to amplify your communication during “Bad Times.”

Find her on a Facebook Group - Marketing for Small Business and Non-Profits

Jennifer Roberts is the owner of Back Porch Communications, a Marketing, Public Relations, and Communications company that helps small business owners and nonprofits create strategies to attract their ideal clients, increase their income and make a bigger impact on the world.

Jennifer has been working with Back Porch clients since 2019 but has more than 20 years of experience as a journalist and in marketing, public relations, and corporate communications.  She takes her experience in the corporate environment and translates those techniques into affordable strategies for small businesses, nonprofits, and creating personal brands.

Jennifer began her career as a television reporter and anchor.  She spent a decade as a journalist after graduating from the University of Florida with a degree in Broadcast Journalism.  Jennifer covered everything from triple hurricanes in 2004 to multiple national political conventions and so much more.  She worked at Central Florida News 13 (now Spectrum) from 1999 to 2007 and WJHG, the NBC affiliate in Panama City, FL, from 1997-1999.

After leaving television, Jennifer transitioned into Public Relations, Marketing, and Corporate Communications for 12 years at Advent Health.  During her tenure in healthcare, Jennifer has coached executives and physicians through media interviews, secured local, regional, and national media coverage, managed media crises, layoffs, mergers, social media content creation and much more.  She has helped numerous executives, physicians, and business leaders with what to say and how to say it in just about any situation.

In 2011, Jennifer earned her master’s degree in Strategic Communication from the University of Missouri School of Journalism and received her Accreditation in Public Relations (APR) certification in 2016.  The APR certification is issued by the Public Relations Society of America (PRSA) to a small percentage of public relations practitioners nationwide.
