Speaker: Preparing Millennials for the Workplace
Scheduled for August 17 and 18
WHAT:A keynote address by Richard K. Delano to discuss today’s youth generation known as Millennials, who are the majority of K-12 students, and our newest workers, teachers, voters, military recruits and parents. A national speaker, Delano will discuss the current generation of students, how this generation differs from other generations and how those differences affect the workplace.
WHO:The event is hosted by the School District of Volusia County, the Career Connection Business Cadre and the Ford Motor Company Next Generation Learning Community. Richard K. Delano is co-founder of LifeCourse Associates and president of Social Marketing Services.
WHY:The Ford Motor Company Fund retained Social Marketing Services to help develop their Next Generation Learning Community Initiative. Delano’s current social marketing activities focus on high school redesign to improve high school graduation and college completion rates. Delano believes career academies, or small learning communities themed to careers, are the most successful redesign strategy. Volusia currently offers 30 career academies in its 10 high schools.
